Youth Ecosystem Survey Report (2022)

Lucha Lunako partnered with the Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship, a specialised academic centre which is part of the UCT Graduate School of Business. Together we launched a collaborative youth innovation platform to support young people with education, employment, self-development, and training opportunities. In this report we present the findings of a survey through the lens of Covid-19 and its impacts on a sample of youth ecosystem stakeholders. The focus was on unpacking the dimensions of operations, health and safety, adaptability, youth-centeredness, access, financial sustainability and strategy. The summary of insights is as follows:

  • Insight 1: The youth ecosystem is in touch with youth
  • Insight 2: These organisations are resilient and adaptable
  • Insight 3: Covid-19 has had various financial impacts
  • Insight 4: Shifting the here-and-now mindset is necessary
  • Inside 5: Access requires deliberate intervention
  • Insight 6: The youth ecosystem is ready for collaboration
