Johannesburg-born Letoya Wamusse knows this feeling all too well. Today, she is building a foundation that puts her well on her way to becoming an attorney. The Turning Point: Finding a Community
After graduating in law, there are two options: either you take the path of becoming an advocate, or you travel the route of becoming an attorney. Letoya chose the second option, which meant she had to complete her articles, which provide practical training in the field.
Letoya needed a place to focus, continue to equip herself and apply to a firm where she could complete her articles. She found refuge at the Makers Valley Studio, taking advantage of its library and workspace. That connection led her to the Social Employment Fund and later a placement with Xquizified Media, one of Lucha Lunako’s host partners. This is where she was first introduced to the organisation.

The biggest challenge facing youth today is support when facing unemployment. I was privileged to find a space when I was battling with self-doubt. The environment highlighted my values and became a voice of optimism and hope that prepared and enabled me for the opportunity I have today.
