The Youth Have It™ Foundational Skills Programmes

Lucha Lunako has developed a suite of curated courses designed to shift mental models in young people and help them take active ownership of their own futures. Our research shows that many youth lack well-formed healthy foundations. This makes it challenging to build strong technical skills without addressing emotional capacity, personal agency, and resilience. The courses can roll out as standalone initiatives or be integrated into a partner’s broader programme to support whole-person development. Courses are between 6-12 weeks long, with each lesson lasting 2 hours.

Not courses, but learning journeys

Our programmes are designed to develop foundational skills in young people through a series of engaging learning journeys. We address not just the symptoms but the root causes of the challenges youth face, such as mental and emotional resilience, and relational health.

A maths literacy journey
Duration: 8 lessons / weeks

The M is for Money (not Maths) course revolves around simple mathematics and how it can be applied to everyday life situations. A main focus is on developing basic maths skills to manage your money more effectively. We cover gaps through a personalized learning journey that identifies your needs.

Foundations for Financial Freedom

Financial literacy for life

The Foundations for Financial Freedom programme helps youth understand their money habits, external influences, and decision-making patterns, equipping them with the tools to build a secure financial future.

Street Smart Upstarts

Getting your business hustle on
Duration: 12 lessons / weeks

The Street Smart Startups course is a dynamic innovation think tank-type programme designed to equip entrepreneurially inclined youth with the necessary knowledge and skills related to starting, running, and growing their own businesses.

Having a vision provides a sense of purpose and direction for a person. Thus, having a vision can support a young person’s career plan by keeping them focused on their long-term goals and setting realistic short-term goals. This can help them pursue job opportunities, leadership roles and valuable professional experience.

Our approach is based on a holistic theory of change. We address the root causes of youth unemployment by starting with self-development and character building as a foundation to a prosperous life. We work to develop the personal characteristics that build resilience, such as confidence, connection and competence. At the same time, we focus on aligning young people with their personal goals of wellness, prosperity, and agency.
